John Gale has announced that he is dropping out of the race
for State Representative in the 2nd District. Gale's withdrawal
leaves only Democrat Barnaby Horton and Republican Peter Brush
in the race to replace State Representative Tom Ritter, who is
not seeking re-election.
Gale lost to Horton in last month's Democratic Primary by only
70 votes. Cynthia Jennings, who also ran in the primary, has
already dropped out of the race.
While saying he felt he "certainly had a good chance of
success" in the general election, Gale went on to say that,
after discussing the matter with family and supporters, he decided
that ending his campaign now would be in the best interests of
"my family, this community, the city of Hartford and the
Democratic Party."
