Town InformationThe town of Griswold is located in east central Connecticut, covers 20 square miles and is home to approximately 1,850 residents. The town was settled in 1663 as West Farms by residents of Norwich. In 1786, West Farms was incorporated under the present name on lands from Norwich. Franklin's population today scarcely exceeds that of 1800, when the local farmers lived scattered over the hills in relative isolation for want of a village center. Dairy and poultry farming remain the principle business.
